12. The ratio of a two digit number to the number obtained by reversing its digits is 5:17. If the sum of its digits is 6,find the no.

let the number in unit's digit be y and tens digit be x

therefore orignal number is 10x + y

also x + y = 6........ (I)

now according to Question,

5[10x + y] = 17[10y + x]

50x + 5y = 170y + 17x

33x = 165y

33x - 165y = 0

33[x - 5y] = 0

x - 5y = 0......... (ii)

now subtracting (ii) and (i)

x + y = 6

x - 5y = 0

6y = 6

y = 1

x + y = 6

x + 1 = 6

x = 5

therefore, number is 10(5) + (1)

= 51
