Ratio of income is 9:7 i.e. 9x:7x
Ratio of expenditure is 4:3 i.e. 4y:3y
Each of them saves Rs 2000
so, 9x-4y=2000. ...(1)
& 7x-3y=2000. ...(2)
hence, 9x-4y = 7x-3y
i.e. 2x=y
putting y=2x in equations (1) & (2)
x=2000
Hence, their income is 9x=9x2000= 18000
& 7x= 7x2000= 14000
Ratio of expenditure is 4:3 i.e. 4y:3y
Each of them saves Rs 2000
so, 9x-4y=2000. ...(1)
& 7x-3y=2000. ...(2)
hence, 9x-4y = 7x-3y
i.e. 2x=y
putting y=2x in equations (1) & (2)
x=2000
Hence, their income is 9x=9x2000= 18000
& 7x= 7x2000= 14000
