What is an Earth and Sun?

• Earth-Earth is the third largest and fifth largest planet in the solar system. Earth is also called the 'blue planet'. It is the only known place in the entire universe where life exists.
• The Earth was formed approximately 457 million years ago and its satellite Moon began orbiting it approximately 453 million years ago. Its diameter is 12,756 km. That's it. The distance of Earth from Sun is approximately 14,95,97,890 km.
• It takes 24 hours to Earth to  complete one rotation around itself. Also, it takes 365 days to complete the orbit around the sun. We call this period of 365 days a year.
• The Earth is tilted by 23.5 degrees from its axis of rotation and in this position it completes its rotation around itself and around the Sun, hence the seasonal cycle of summer, monsoon and winter.
• Sun-Sun is very important for us. He gives us heat and light so that we can see all things on earth. If there was no sun, the whole earth would be cold and dark. And we would not see any kind of animals and birds on earth. Plants need sunlight to make their food.
