After 6 years,

$x + 6 = 4 + 2(y + 6)$

$x - 2y = 10...............(2)$

Upon solving the above two equations we get

x-3y-(x-2y) = -4-(10)

-3y+2y=-14

y=14

x-2(y)=10

x-2×14=10

x=10+28

x=38

$x = 38$

$y = 14$
