Given :- 125 smaller but identical cubes have been put together to form a larger cube. This larger cube is now painted on all 6 faces. How many of the smaller cubes have at least two faces painted ?

Select one:

a. 46

b. 42

c. 44

d. 48

Answer :-

→ Total small cubes = 125

so,

→ side of larger cube = (125)^(1/3) = (5³)^(1/3) = 5 .

now, we know that,

  • At least two faces painted = 12(n - 2) .

then,

→ Smaller cubes at least two faces painted are = 12 * (5 - 2) = 12 * 3 = 48 cubes (D) (Ans.)
