Solution :

Given -- - 12x + 9

______________________
we know the algebraic identity:

a² - 2ab + b² = ( a - b )²
_______________________

Here,

b = 3 ,

2ab = -12x

=> 2 * a * 3 = 12x

=> a = ( 12x )/( 2*3 )

=> a = 2x

Therefore ,

( 2x )² - 2*2x*3 + 3²

= 4x² - 12x + 9

missing term = 4x²
