Finding the single equivalent discount:

The difference in the original price and the price after the final discount is,

= $x - 0.504x$

= $0.496x$

Therefore,

The single equivalent discount percentage will be  

= $\frac{0.496x}{x}\times 100$

= $0.496 \times 100$

= $\bold{49.6\%}$ ← option (a)

Thus, the single discount is → 49.6%.
