So, let no. of sweets with Sahil = 1x and no. of sweets with Sachin = 3x

Therefore we get,

1x + 3x = 16  ------ (1)

      4x = 16

So we get the value of x = 4

Now, substituting the value of x in equation (1),

1(4) + 3(4) = 16

4 + 12 = 16

16=16

Therefore RHS = LHS

And hence, no. of sweets with Sahil= 4 and that with Sachin= 12
