Resistor Colour code :

Brown = 1

Green = 5

Orange = 3

Silver = 10% ( Tolerance)

So, Resistance = 15 × 10^3 ± 10%

Option A). is correct.

Given : A carbon resistor has coloured strips as brown, green, orange and silver respectively.

To Find :  values of resistance

A)15 kΩ ± 10%

B)15 kΩ ± 5%

C)15 kΩ ± 20%

D)10 kΩ ± 5%

 Solution:

4 Band

1st two colors are digit

3rd color is 10 raised to power multiplier

Then tolerance  ( gold . silver / none )

Color Digit Multiplier

Black 0        10⁰

Brown 1        10¹

Red   2         10²

Orange 3         10³

Yellow 4         10⁴

Green 5         10⁵

Blue 6         10⁶

Violet 7         10⁷

Grey 8         10⁸

White 9           10⁹

Tolerance (%)

Gold      5

Silver       10

(none)     20

brown, green, orange and silver

1              5          10³           ± 10%

Hence 15 * 10³    ± 10%

= 15 k  ± 10%

values of resistance  is  15 k  ± 10%
