QUESTION:

13. (a) Draw an angle of 65° using ruler and protractor.

|| SOLUTION ||

Aim:-

  • To construct an angle of 65° using a ruler and a protractor.

Construction:-

  • (Refer the attachments)

Steps of Construction:-

  1. Take a sharpened pencil and draw a line segment using a ruler. Name it as \sf{\overline{BC}}.
  2. Now, take a protractor and place it over \sf{\overline{BC}} such that the baseline of the protractor coincides with \sf{\overline{BC}} and midpoint of the baseline coincides with point \sf{B}.
  3. Keep a dot where you find 65° (the mid point of 60° and 70°) in the inner scale of the protractor.
  4. Name the dot (point) as \sf{A}.
  5. Join the points \sf{B} and \sf{A}, using a ruler.
  6. Mark \sf{\angle B} as 65°.
  7. And finally, \sf{\angle ABC} is the required angle.

QUESTION:

13. (b) Fill in the blanks:

  • i) An angle of measure 270° is called as _____.
  • ii) When two rays form an angle, their common end point is called the _____ of the angle.

ANSWER:

  • i) An angle of measure 270° is called as reflex angle.

An angle whose measure is more than 180° and less than 360° is called as reflex angle. For example, 210° is a reflex angle as it lies between 180° and 360°.

A.T.Q, we're asked- what type of angle does an angle of measure 270° belongs to. As 180° < 270° > 360°, it's a reflex angle.

  • ii) When two rays form an angle, their common end point is called the vertex of the angle.

We know that, an angle is a figure, which is formed by two rays which meets at a common point. And that common point is named as the vertex of the angle. The two rays are the arms of the angle. Refer attachment 5 for a clear idea!
