The law of constant proportions states that a given chemical compound always contains its component elements in fixed ratio.

(b)

3 grams of water will be formed- 2g of H and 1g of O. 15 gms of oxygen would be left out.

(c)

An ion is formed when an element loses or gains an electron.

Ions are of 2 types:

  1. Anions, ie, - ve ions
  2. Cations, ie, + ve ions
