Correct Question :

  • A sum of money invested at 5 per cent simple interest amounts to Rs. 650 in 6 years. What is the Principal and amount ?

 \\

Given :

  • Simple Interest = Rs 650
  • Rate = 5% p.a
  • Time = 6 years

 \\

To Find :

  • Principal
  • Amount

 \\

Solution :

✰ As we know that, Simple Interest is given by SI = P × R × T / 100 and from this Formula we know that Principal is given by P = SI × 100 / R × T and Amount is given by A = Principal + Simple Interest , so we will simply put the given values in the formula to find the Principal and Amount.

⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⟼⠀⠀SI = P × R × T / 100

⠀⠀⠀⟼⠀⠀P = SI × 100 / R × T

⠀⠀⠀⟼⠀⠀P = 650 × 100 / 5 × 6

⠀⠀⠀⟼⠀⠀P = 650 × 100 / 30

⠀⠀⠀⟼⠀⠀P = 650 × 10 / 3

⠀⠀⠀⟼⠀⠀P = 6500 / 3

⠀⠀⠀⟼⠀⠀P = Rs 2166.67

⠀⠀

Now,

➞ Amount = SI + P

➞ Amount = 650 + 2166.67

➞ Amount = Rs 2,816.67

Thus, Principal is Rs 2166.67 and Amount is Rs 2816.67
