13. A wooden box measures 20 cm by 12 cm by 10 cm. Thickness of wood
is 1 cm. Find the volume of wood required to make the box.
Sol. External volume (20 x 12 x 10 cm3 = 2400 cm3​

external measurements of the box :

length - 20cm

breadth-12cm

height-10cm

therefore external volume : 20*12*10cm cube

=2400cm cube

internal measures of the box :

length:20-2=18cm

breadth:12-2=10cm

height:10-2=8cm

therefore internal volume : 18*10*8 cm cube

=1440cm cube

therefore volume of wood = 2400-1440 cm cube

= 2256cm cube
