The median of the data is 80.5

Given,

The weight of 35 people represented in the table given in figure.

To Find,

The median of the data.

Solution,

The formula for calculating the median of grouped data is

Median = l + [(n/2−c)/f] × h.

where,

l = lower limit of median class = 70

n = total number of observations = 35

c = cumulative frequency of the preceding class = 8

f = frequency of each class = 9

h = class size = 10

Median = 70+[(17.5-8)/9]*10 = 70+(1.05)*10 = 80.5

Hence, the median of the data is 80.5
