Communities were placed in a sort of ladder where each caste was either above or below the other.

• The caste system were prevalent among the Hindus. There were four castes according to the work they were engaged in. These are- Brahmins or priests, Kshatriyas or warriors, Vaishyas (or traders, farmers, merchants) and Shudras or untouchables.

• Brahmins were placed above in the ladder and they considered themselves as superior while Shudras were considered as lowest caste and placed at the bottom of the ladder.
