Given :   figures are formed by joining six unit squares

To Find :  . Which figure has the smallest perimeter?

Solution:

Fig 1  :

perimeter  =  1 + 3 + 1  + 3 = 8 units

Fig 2 :

Perimeter = 2 + 4 + 1 + 2 + 1 + 2  = 12

Fig 3

Perimeter = 1 + 1 + 3 + 2 + 1 + 1 + 3 + 2  = 14

Fig 4

Perimeter = 1 + 1  + 3 + 1 +1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 2 + 2 = 14

Minimum perimeter is 8 units

Fig 1 has smallest perimeter
