Answer:

Let mother's age be x years and daughter's age be y years.

4 years ago,

(x-4)=4(y-4)

x-4=4y-16

12=4y-x

x=4y-12..........(i)

Also, 6 years later,

(x+6)=5/2(y+6)

x+6=(5y+30)/2

2x+12=5y+30

2x-5y=18.............(ii)

From i and ii,

2(4y-12)-5y=18

8y-24-5y=18

3y=42

y=14

Hence, x=56-12=44

So Mother's age is 44yrs and Daughter's age is 14 yrs.
