Given:

✏ Hydrogen has three isotopes A,B and C

✏ No. of neutron(s) in A,B and C are respectively X,Y and Z.

To Find:

✏ The sum of X,Y and Z.

Isotopes of Hydrogen:

✏ Hydrogen has three main isotopes. Name of them are given below

  1. Hydrogen-1
  2. Deuterium
  3. Tritium

Hydrogen-1 :

✏ Hydrogen-1 has one proton in nucleus.

✏ It has not a single neutron in nucleus.

✏ X = 0

Deuterium :

✏ Deuterium has one proton and one neutron in nucleus.

✏ Y = 1

Tritium :

✏ Tritium has one proton and two neutrons in nucleus.

✏ Z = 2

X + Y + Z = 0 + 1 + 2 = 3
