13. In the reaction,
2S02 + 02 → 2S03
when 1 mole of SO2, and 1 mole of O2, are made
to react to completion
Answer this question correctly I will mark ur answer as brainliest answer believe me..
Ans:1 mole of SO3 will be produced but how..?explain

Oh I like the questions you have asked so far...

Actually people used to say that they know the concept but are even then not able to answer the questions.... You can't solve a question if you don't know the concept howsoever simple question may be....

But you can't solve a tough problem even though you know the concept when you are not having a lot of practice in these types of questions....

In your question you don't know the concept....

Actually it can be solved by the concept of limiting agents...

Think what will happen when you have to fill 10 small boxes... You have 50 balls to fill in 10 boxes but you are asked to fill one box with one ball only...

In doing so you will be left with 40 extra balls as 10 boxes can be filled with 10 balls only...

So we say that we had extra balls but we had limited number of boxes so we say that boxes are limiting agent...

Similarly in chemistry consider the following reaction:-

N2 + 3H2 -> 2NH3....

Now one mole Nitrogen molecules reacts with 3 mole hydrogen molecules to give 2 mole Ammonia molecule...

What will happen when 2 moles of nitrogen molecules are taken but still only 3 moles of hydrogen molecule is taken...?

As per the chemical requirements of reaction one mole nitrogen molecule will react with 3 moles of hydrogen molecule present and will form only two moles of Ammonia molecule... Now what happens to the 1 mole Nitrogen molecule left in the reaction...?

It will remain in the reaction as it is without affecting the product formed.... So now you are left with one mole nitrogen molecule and 2 mole Ammonia molecule... And reaction has been completed....And the limiting agent is H2 as it is exhausted in the reaction.... This case will be similar even when you take more than 2 moles of Nitrogen... Chemestry will be the same...

Similarly look at your reaction.....

2 SO2 + O2 -> 2SO3....

What will happen when only 1 mole of SO2 is taken....? And still we are taking 1 mole O2 as before...

So if 2 mole SO2 requires 1 mole O2... Then 1 mole SO2 will require 1/2 mole O2... And it will form only 1 mole SO3... So now what remains in reaction..?

In reaction 1/2 mole O2 is still left and is present along with 1 mole SO3.... So in this reaction limiting agent is SO2....

So limiting agents are always exhausted after the reaction completes but the other reactant is left in some amount...

Hope you understand the concept well... I prefer you to buy CENGAGE PHYSICAL CHEMISTRY for better concept and a lot of good questions to practice..... Also rather than using brainly I prefer you to use ASKIITIANS or Topper learning app or Unacademy...... These are made for students and not brainly as you will not come to get answers daily by someone like me... Actually 90% brainly users just waste their time on brainly... And most bad situation is of BRAINLY MODERATORS as they think they are different from others and waste whole day in deleting questions and answers... What will they do in their own life?...

So brainly is not an actual study app.... I myself use brainly in free time when I have taken a break from my studies...

Well MISS I will answer your rest of the questions on some other days....

Would you like to be my friend....?

I am quite a polite guy.... And will be soon all India topper in JEE ADVANCED... Rank predicted to be in top 100.....
