1] These countries drained out resources and wealth from their colonies.

2] Changed the mindset and thinking of the people in these countries to be slaves and didn't offer them any developmental goals.

3] The colonised countries got independence much later and hence could not be advantaged by the Industrial Revolution and other such revolutions that could help in the development and trade prospect of the countries.
