given

the present ages of a & b is x+5 and x

5 years ago their ages was 3/2 ...(1)

so we have to find their ages 5 years ago from the present ages

ie 5 years ago A's age was x+5-5 =x

5 years ago b's age was x-5

so equation 1 implies x/x-5 = 3/2

we get x =15 which is b's present age

15+5 = 20 is a's present age
