13. The polynomials (2x + x? - ax + 2) and (2x - 3x2 – 3x + a) when divided
by (x - 2) leave the same remainder. Find the value of a.

Firstly

2x+-ax+2=R

x-2=0

x=2

p(2)=2×2+2²-a2+2=R

=4+4-2a+2=R

=10-2a=R. (1)

secondly:

2x-3x²-3x+a=R

p(2)=2×2-3×2²-3×2+a=R

= 4-12-6+a=R

=a-14=R (2)

From (1) and (2)

10-2a=a-14

10+14=a+2a

24=3a

24/3=a

8= a
