\huge\bold{Question:-}

  • Two-thirds of a number is greater than one-third of the number by 5
  • What is the number

\huge\bold{Solution:-}

Let the number be x

Given,

 \frac{2}{3}  \times x =  ( \frac{1}{3}  \times x)  + 5

On Solving

 \frac{2x}{3}  =  \frac{x}{3}  + 5

 \frac{2x}{3}  =  \frac{x + 15}{3}

2x = x + 15

2x - x = 15

x = 15

\huge\bold{Verification:-}

 \frac{2}{3}  \times 15 =  (\frac{1}{3} \times 15)  + 5

2 \times 5 = 5 + 5

10 = 10

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the number be x.

(2x/3=(x/3)+3, or

(2x/3=(x/3+(9/3), or

2x-x=9, or

x = 9

Check:(2/3) of 9 is 6 which is (1/3)*9+3=6
