13.An advocate filed a petition under the RTI Act seeking certain information stating that it was required in connection with a suit to be filed on behalf of his clients in a court. Pointing out that though the petitioner could demand information as a citizen, he had sent an application in this case in his professional capacity as a lawyer on behalf of other citizens who happen to be his clients, the Information Commission dismissed the second appeal after observing that it would be appropriate for the petitioner to advise his clients to apply under RTI Act directly. It also pointed out the risk that when a lawyer applies for information on behalf of a client, some information could be denied as third party information.
