13. Why do you think the statue of the Happy Prince was covered in gold and precious stones but

The two most precious things were the leaden heart of the Happy Prince and the dead swallow. The former wept for the poor and helped them by giving sapphires, gold leave and ruby. While the latter helped the prince in his noble cause and sacrificed her life while staying with him.

answer : this tells us that the makers of the statue believed in show -off and they were superficial. they knew that everyone would view the statue of the happy prince so they made it sure that it looked good from the outside.the heart was not visible to anyone,so they made it of lead .this shows that Humans believe in show-off Rather than internal beauty.people judge the person from his/her outer beauty.everyone was in Ave(amazed) of the statue because it believed in doing well for the others but because it was made of gold .it showed their false pride & ego.
