Answer:

Government of India took measures to implement the universalisation of elementary education with the help of few schemes.

In the year 2000, the scheme 'Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan' was launched to provide compulsory education for free to the children of ages between 7 and 14 years. This was made as a fundamental right as per the 86th amendment of the Constitution of India.

In the year 2003, Indian government launched another scheme called 'NPEGEL - National Programme of Education for Girls at Elementary Level’. This was made as an addition to the above scheme. This emphasizes on the education for under privileged girl children.

In 2018, a new scheme called 'Samagra Shiksha' is launched with broader goals to support equal opportunities and also to extend free education from pre-schooling till 12th standard.
