The Hidden Treasure
Rohan was 13 year old, a cheerful and friendly boy. During the winter vacation, he went to stay with his grandparents in their huge old house in a remote village. All around this village could be found ruins of old forts and palaces. Rohan found it unusual that there were no modern amenities, a school or hospital in the village. He was disheartened to see this. However, he also loved to be away from the hustle and bustle of city life. He found everyone very affectionate and happy. They would often narrate stories of the bygone era, of Kings and Queens, as well as hidden treasures! That sounded amazing!
One day, Rohan was taking a leisure stroll around a pond. Suddenly, he spotted a golden snake in the grass. He was so petrified that he ran as fast as he could without realizing that he was amidst centuries - old ruins of an old fort. There were thick bushes, trees and wild plants everywhere. Suddenly, Rohan slipped and fell down a slope. He found himself in a deep pit that was covered with creepers and grass. He looked around and sawa dark narrow passage leading down. Trying to find a way out, he started moving ahead. At the end of it, he found two rooms with old wooden doors. He desperately banged them with all his strength and they creaked open.
To his great surprise, they were full of treasures, gold and silver utensils and ornaments. Somehow, he ran back, came out of the hole, and narrated everything to his grandfather and the villagers. Within hours, they all headed towards the hidden rooms. All the wealth that was found was used to build schools, colleges and hospitals. The village panchayat wanted the people to have all these facilities. Everyone was jubilant and they praised Rohan.
