130. ABC is a triangle in which AB = 10cm, AC = 24cm
and BC = 26cm. If AD is its median, then length
of AD is -
(1) 12 cm
(3) 13 cm
(2) 12.5 cm

Answer:

13 cm

Step-by-step explanation:

Now , we know that

1. Longest side of a triangle can be considered as a Hypotenuse .

So ,

By Pythagoras theorem ,

(BC)^2 = (AC)^2 + (AB)^2

→ (26)^2 = (24)^2 + (10)^2

→ 676 = 576 +100

→ 676 = 676

Therefore , ∆ ABC is a right angled triangle .

Now ,

We should always remember that In a right angled triangle , length of median drawn to hypotenuse is always equals half of it .

In this case :

AD = 1/2( BC)

Therefore , AD = 1/2( 26 )

AD = 13 cm [Answer]
