14. A and B are two alloys of argentum and brass pre-
pared by mixing metals in proportions 7:2 and 7:11,
respectively. If equal quantities of the two alloys are
melted to form a third alloy C, the proportion of
argentum and brass in C will be:
(a) 5:9
(b) 5:7
(c) 7:5
(d) 9:5

so the answer is
agrentum in C = (7/9 + 9/18) = 7/6
brass in C = (2/9 + 11/18 ) = 5/6

therefore
agrentum : brass
7/6 : 5/6
7 : 5
