\large\maltese {\textsf{\textbf{\: Given~:}}}

It is given that a bag contains 3 red and 5 black balls.

 \\

\large \maltese{\textsf{\textbf{ \: To \: find \: :}}}

We have to find the probability of red ball when drawn randomly from the bag.

 \\

\large \maltese{\textsf{\textbf{ \: Solution \: :}}}

  • Total no. of balls in bag = 5+3 = 8
  • No. of red balls = 3

\boxed{\red{\pmb{\rm Probability \: of \: getting \: a \: red \: ball= \cfrac{No. \: of \: red \: balls}{Total \: no. \: of \: balls} }}}

{:\implies}\rm \cfrac{3}{8}

\boxed{\red{\pmb{\rm \therefore \: Probability \: of \: getting \: a \: red \: ball= \frac{3}{8}  \: (or) \: 0.375.}}}

 \\

\large \maltese{\textsf{\textbf{ \: Must \: remember \: : }}}

  • If the total number of trials is 'n' then the probability of event D happening is :

\rm{P(D) =  \cfrac{No. \: of \: trials \: in \: which \:  the \: event \: happened}{Total \: no. \: of \: trials} }

  • Probability of event can be as :

\rm 0 \geqslant  P(E)\geqslant 1

Given,

  • There are 8 balls in The Bag.
  • There are 3 red balls in the Bag.
  • There are 5 black balls in the Bag.

To Find,

  • The Probability of getting red balls.

Solution,

Probability of of getting red balls

= Number of Favorable Events / Total Number of Events

Probability of getting red balls = 3/8

Probability of getting red balls = 0.375

Required Answer,

  • Probability of getting red balls = 0.375
