it is the shortest distance between two points. no, it is not scalar, it is vector.
b) No. if displacement is zero, it is not neccessary for the distance also to be zero.
C) if the object is at rest

dikshaverma4you: Ur answer (c) is wrong ... How the moving object be at rest ?

(a). DiSpLaCeMeNt is the shortest distance / shortcut between two points...................... (b). No it is not necessary for the distance to be zero if displacement is zero.. For eg. An object starts from point A and come back to point A after few min. Then distance is covered but displacement is 0........................... (c). When the moving object moves at the straight line and that to in a same direction then magnitude = displacement......
