Let the original length be x

 \sf \frac{24}{100}x = \frac{6}{25} x

A.T.Q.

 \sf \: x + \frac{6}{25} x = 31

 \sf \: \frac{(25x + 6x)}{25} = 31

 \sf31x = 31 \times 25

 \sf \: x = \frac{775}{31} = 25

So the unstretched length is 25 cm

Hope it helps you.....
