Answer:

Correct option is

B

4!6!

8!8!10!

There are 8 chair on each side of the table.

Let the sides be represented by A and B.

Let four persons sit on side A, then number of ways of arranging 4 persons on 8 chairs on side A=

8

P

4

And two persons sit on side B.

The number of ways of arranging 2 persons on 8 chairs on side B=

8

P

2

The remaining 10 persons can be arranged in remaining 10 chairs in 10! ways.

Hence, the total number of ways in which the persons can be arranged is

8

P

4

×

8

P

2

×10!=

4!6!

8!8!10!

The minimum number of tables required are 4.

Given - Number of people

Find - Minimum number of tables

Solution - We are told in the question, that joining two tables of 4 people, we can accomodate 6 people. This means, on joining two such tables, place of 2 people will be wasted.

Now, similarly joining other tables of capacity 4 people, to accomodate 10 people. Adding 1 more table will add 2 people to the arrangement.

As, number of people = 3 + 2 + 3

Number of people = 8

Now, adding one more table, will increase the capacity of 2 people.

Number of people = 3 + 2 + 2 + 3

Number of people = 10

So, 4 tables can accomodate 10 people.
