14. Cost of notebook is twice the cost of pen. Write a linear equation in two variables to represent
this statement (take cost of notebook as x rs and pen to be y rs).

Given,

  • Let the cost of notebook be x
  • Let the cost of pen be y

And also Given that cost of notebook is twice the cost of pen so,

》Cost of notebook = 2 × cost of pen

Where,

  • Cost of notebook is x
  • Cost of pen is y

》x = 2 × y

》x = 2y

Now, Linear equation in two variables:

》x - 2y = 0

Hence , x - 2y = 0 is Linear equation in two variables
