Despite the presence of So many sperms in the vicinity of an egg cell, only one sperm enters the ovum because of change in the embryo after fertilization

Explanation:

  • After the entry of the male sperm nucleus inside the egg, there is thickening of the zona pellucida of the ovum and as a result of this only one sperm can enter the cell.
  • All the other sperms cannot enter the egg. All the other sperm either die in the vaginal tract or become immobile after some time..
  • As a result of this only one sperm penetrates and the other sperms are killed inside the tract.
