Distance between the given point=(x2−x1)2+(y2−y1)2

Here x1=0,y1=5  and  x2=−5,y2=0

∴Distance=(−5−0)2+(0−(−5))2

⇒−52+(−5)2

⇒25+25

⇒50

⇒25×2

⇒52

Que :- Find the distance between the points (0, 5) and (-5, 0).

Ans :- Let the points be A(0,5) and B(-5,0)

x1 = 0

x2 = -5

y1 = 5

y2 = 0

By distance Formula,

AB =  \sqrt{ {(x2 - x1)}^{2} +  {(y2 - y1)}^{2}  }

 =  \sqrt{ {( - 5 + 0)}^{2}  +  {(0 - 5)}^{2} }

 =  \sqrt{ {( - 5) }^{2} +  {( - 5)}^{2}  }

 =  \sqrt{25 + 25}

 =  \sqrt{50}

 = 5 \sqrt{2}
