Hello !!

Is very simple you solve this question, for you give a correct answer for it. You can make the following reasoning : the question ask for we take 14 percent of a unknown number, so we can called him as (n) and the result is 5600. So, we have this equation for we find the solution of (n).

14N/100 = 5600

Now, that you know the equation. You can develop the same and find this unknown number.

14N/100 = 5600

14N/100 = 5600/1

14N × 1 = 100 × 5600

14N = 560000

N = 560000/14

N = 40000

Well, we have that this number is 40000. Nevertheless, we need to check if it's correct or not.

(14 × 40000)/100 = 5600

560000/100 = 5600

5600 = 5600 (TRUE)

Therefore, with all this reasoning we have that this number is 40000.

I hope I have collaborated !
