14. Sameer took two test tubes and labelled them A and B. In test tube A, he put a substance ‘X’ and added dilute HCl. In test tube B, he put substance ‘Y’ and added dilute HCl. Sameer observed the formation of a chloride in test tube B with evolution of a gas. No chemical reaction was observed in test tube A.
a) Identify the test tubes containing metal and non-metal.
b) Write the word equation for the reaction taken place in test tube B.

A. accourding to question no chemical reaction takes place in test tube A

X must lie below Cl in reactivity series
so it have high SOP value

2.formation of chloride indicates. ..
Y must lie above cl in reactivity series
having low SOP value.
for example

Zn +2HCL-----> 2ZNCl+H2
