Given:

Sita bought

  • Weight of apples = 6 kg 200 g = 6.200 kg
  • Weight of mangoes = 2 kg 500 g = 2.500 kg

Anita bought

  • Weight of apples = 4 kg 500 g = 4.500 kg
  • Weight of mangoes = 5 kg 150 g = 5.150 kg

What To Find:

We have to find who bought more fruits and also by how much.

Solution:

  • Finding who bought more fruits.

To find this we have to find,

Weight of apples and mangoes together of Sita and Anita and then find how has bought more.

Sita:

⇒ Total Weight = Sum of apple and mangoes

Substitute the values,

⇒ Total Weight = 6.200 kg + 2.500 kg

Add the weight,

⇒ Total Weight = 8.700 kg or 8.7 kg

Anita:

⇒ Total Weight = Sum of apple and mangoes

Substitute the values,

⇒ Total Weight = 4.500 kg + 5.150 kg

Add the weight,

⇒ Total Weight =  9.650 kg or 9.65 kg

Here we can see that,

8.7 kg < 9.65 kg

Sita < Anita

∴ Hence, Anita bought more fruits.

  • Finding out how much more did Anita bought.

To find we have to

Subtract Sita's fruits from Anita's fruits,

⇒ Anita's fruits - Sita's fruits

Substitute the values,

⇒ 9.65 kg - 8.7 kg

Subtract the weight,

⇒ 0.95 kg

∴ Therefore, Anita has bought more fruits than Sita by 0.95 kg.
