Answer:

585

Step-by-step explanation:

Number of red beads = R

Number of red beads = B

[1] Siti had 135 more red beads than blue beads => R = B + 135

[2] After she used half of the red beads and 1/5 of the blue beads, there was an equal number of red beads and blue beads =>(1/2)R = (4/5)B

My question. I'm not sure whether my equation for [2] is correct.

But I did this.

From [2], (1/2)R = (4/5)B => R = 8/5B

Then I plugged it up in [1]. (8/5)B = B + 134. => B = 225.

I then plugged B in 1. So R = 225 + 135. => R = 360.

Answer: B + R = 585.
