Answer:

so let x be the price of the article.

first it increased by 20%

==> new price = x+(x*20%) ==> x+(x/5) => 6x/5

now it decreases by 20% ==> (6x/5)-((6x/5)*20%)

=>6x/5 -6x/25 ==> 24x/25 .

now overa.change =( x-(24x/25))*100% ==> 100x/25 ==> 4% dec .

Answer:

c) 4% decrease

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the price of the article be ₹100

then after 20% increase the price

= ₹120

20% of 120 = 24

subtract 24 from 120

= 120-24= ₹94

this means that the overall chang e in the price is 4rupees

hence we have considered the price of the article as 100 the decrease in price is also 4rupees
