14. IDL means the International Date Line, which is along 180° E & W. The date or day changes while crossing this line i.e. while there is Monday in the Eastern Hemisphere i.e. 0° – 180°E, there will be Sunday in the Western Hemisphere i.e. 0° – 180° W.

5.The most famous use of great circles in geography is for navigation because they represent the shortest distance between two points on a sphere. Due to the earth's rotation, sailors and pilots using great circle routes must constantly adjust their route as the heading changes over long distances.
