Specific heat is a type of heat which is absorbed or given off by a substance without changing its physical state.

Explanation : we know, laterally there are two types of heat.

one by which only temperature changes, physical state remains same. This is known as specific heat. It is amount of heat required to raise the temperature by 1°C of 1kg substance.

and the other by which only physical state change change, temperature remains same. This is known as latent heat. When solid converts into liquid and vice versa, we say it is latent heat of fusion but liquid converts into gas and vice versa, we say it is latent heat of vaporisation.
