Given that 144 cartons of Coke cans and 90 cartons of Pepsi cans are to be
stacked in a canteen.
144 = 3 x 3 x 2x 2x 2x 2
90 = 3 x 3 x 2 x 5
H.C.F ( 144 , 90) = 3 x 3 x 2 = 18.
∴ We have 18 number of cartons each stack
stacked in a canteen.
144 = 3 x 3 x 2x 2x 2x 2
90 = 3 x 3 x 2 x 5
H.C.F ( 144 , 90) = 3 x 3 x 2 = 18.
∴ We have 18 number of cartons each stack

Here we need to find greatest number of cartons each stack would have. So we need to apply euclid division Lemma :
144 = 90 × 1 + 54
90 = 54 × 1 + 36
54 = 36 × 1 + 18
36 = 18 × 2 + 0
Therefore 18 is HCF
So 18 carton will be in each stack
