II. Solve the following word problems:
1. Ten added to thrice a whole number gives 40. Find the number.
2. Four-fifths of a number is greater than three-fourths of a number by 8. Find the number.
3. The sum of two consecutive multiples of 4 is 60. Find the number.​

1. 10 and 2.160 and 3.28 and 32.

We can also check our answer in both 1st and second part by putting the value in the equation...

for example in first part we got our ans 10 now we can check it

3x+10=40 this was our equation

now in place of x we will put 10.

(3×10)+10 =40

30+10=40

40 = 40

as forty equals to forty hence it is checked that our answer is correct. In the same way we can check the second part by puting 160 in place of X in the equation

4/5×X - 3/4×X = 8

28 and 32 are the two consecutive multiples of 4 whose sum is 60
