Given :- A catering contractor delivered a bag of rice in each of his five kitchens. At the end of the day he collected the

  • 1/3
  • 2/5
  • 3/7
  • 1/2and 2/3

bag respectively. He repacked them for distribution in the

next day. How much was the total rice available with him after repacking ?

Solution :-

→ Total rice he packed from all 5 kitchens = (1/3) + (2/5) + (3/7) + (1/2) + (2/3)

adding them we get,

→ [(1/3) + (2/3)] + [(2/5) + (3/7) + (1/2)]

→ 1 + [ (2 * 14 + 3 * 10 + 35)/ 70 ]

→ 1 + (28 + 30 + 35/70)

→ 1 + (93/70)

→ 1 + 1 + (23/70)

→ 2(23/70)

Hence, total rice available with him after repacking is 2 full bags and (23/70) of a bag .
