Velocity of the shell at highest point will be ν cosθ
Let the mass be m
Speed of first piece will be ν cosθ
So, let the speed of other piece be x
Using conservation of momentum
mv cosθ=m/2 v cosθ+m/2 x
so, x=3 v cosθ
