Total emf is all the cells are connected correctly = E = No. of cells × emf of one cell = 32 × 3 = 96 V
now,
if one cell is connected in reverse ppolarity then the emf differs by = 2×Eone cell
The difference of the EMF = 96-84 = 12 V
Now,
Now of cells connected in reverse polarity = n = 12/(2×3)
n = 12/6
n = 2
Therefore, there are 2 cells connected in reverse polarity.
