Given-

m = 15 g

T = 300 K

η = 2

i = 5

# Solution-

Number of moles of nitrogen gas is calculated by-

n = m/M = 15/28 = 0.5357

Heat energy required to increase vrms twice is -

Q = i/2 nR(η^2-1)T

Q = 5/2 × 0.5357 × 8.314 × (4-1)300

Q = 10021 J

Q = 10.021 kJ

Therefore, amt of heat transferred to gas to increase rms velocity to twice is 10.021 kJ.
