Concept

Cost Price at x% profit = (100/(100+x)) × selling price

Given

We have two different rates of tea powder Rs. 31 per kg and  36 kilograms of tea powder costing Rs. 43 per kg.

To find

We have to find the amount of Rs. 31 per kg tea power mixture when sold at Rs. 44 per kg gives a profit of 10%.

Solution

Let x kg be the quantity of tea at Rs. 31 per kg.

36 + x = total weight of tea powder

(31 x) plus (36 43) = 40 (36 + x)

At a 10% profit, the cost price is (100/110) 44.

At a 10% profit, the cost price is Rs. 40.

1440 + 40x = 31x + 1548

9x = 108

 x = 12 kilogramme

Hence option (a) 12 is correct option.
